Youth Artist Showcase: Stonebrother

This is the fourth in a series of blog posts titled “Youth Artist Showcase“. In this series we’ll explore up and coming artists, asking them about the work they do, what inspires them, and much more.

Who is Stonebrother?

Stonebrother is a rock band from the eastern shore of Nova Scotia who draw influences from everything pop to metal.

What are your musical backgrounds?

All 3 members come from families who love music and have been playing their respective instruments for most of their lives.

How did the band form? Zach and Ethan are brothers who have been playing music together on guitar and drums since they picked up their instruments. Leo was recommended by a family friend named Nick Pettipas.

What kinds of things inspire your work? We try to take influence from everywhere we can.

Who/What are your biggest influences? Our biggest influences musically are probably Van Halen, Rush, Guns n Roses and Led Zeppelin.

Do you have a favourite of your songs? Hellbent is the song we usually look forward to playing live.

Do you remember any favourite or standout performances? If so, why are they? The last Trunk 7 Music Festival was the first time we added the different songs to the bridge of Hellbent, an addition which would continue every time we rehearsed or played that song live in the future.

Do you want to make a career from your music? If so, where would you like it to take you? We hope to make a career of our music, and want it to take us as far as possible.

Are there any resources you wish were more available in the community for Musicians? It would be nice to have more venues for a full rock show in the community.

Do you have any upcoming projects or performances people can look forward to?

We have a new EP in the works with the release date TBA soon.

Is there anything you’d like people to know that we haven’t touched on?

We take every show and rehearsal as a learning experience. What do we do well, what can we do better. How do we become the best that we can be.
